BidBuilder

BidBuilder is a utility that can convert a Bid Worksheet file (created by BidBest) into an HTML page that you can use to send your bid choices to VIPS (on the pilot.fedex.com website).

To use:

  1. Use BidBest to create a Bid Worksheet. You must enter at least one bid choice. Save the worksheet and Quit BidBest.
  2. Drag the icon of the Bid Worksheet over the top of the BidBuilder icon and release the mouse button. After a short pause you will see an alert box telling you that the process was a success (or else an error message). Notice where the newly-created HTML document is located: it will be in the same folder as the original Bid Worksheet file. The name will be something like "vipsbid_nov00.html".
  3. Connect to http://pilot.fedex.com and go to the VIPS area and then to Monthly Bids. Set up your bid as usual, until you get to the page where you input the bid choices (it contains a form with 300 empty input boxes).
  4. Now you want to replace this page with the one you just created using BidBuilder.
    a. Netscape browser: Go under the File menu and choose the command "Open->Page in Navigator...".
    -- or --
    b. Internet Explorer: Go under the File menu and choose the command "Open File".
  5. Use the file-dialog to find and select the BidBuilder HTML document you just created. This would be "vipsbid_nov00.html" in the example in (2.) above.
  6. The browser should display the BidBuilder HTML document with your bid choices filled in (it may take a second or two to load). Check it over for accuracy, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
  7. VIPS should give you a reference number and re-display your choices; always check this over carefully, to avoid unpleasant surprises!
